With more technology at our fingertips than ever before, as a culture we are having more neck pain than ever before. Desk jobs, computer work, sedentary lifestyles all contribute to that pain in your neck. Chiropractic an extremely effective treatment for finally getting rid of that pain in your neck.
Prenatal chiropractic care is a safe and effective way to help ease the discomforts of pregnancy. It also has been shown to produce shorter and more comfortable labors. Dr. Connor is certified in the Webster’s technique which is an analysis and adjustment of the sacrum and the surrounding soft tissues of the pelvis to promote optimal biomechanical function for a pregnant woman.
Pediatric Chiropractic utilizes techniques to gently correct spinal subluxations. The birth process can put a tremendous amount of stress on an infant’s fragile spine, we recommend having your child checked by a certified chiropractor after birth. As children grow there are many falls, tumbles, and other stresses endured. Keeping your child’s spine aligned during these critical years.
As an athlete, keeping your body in balance is critical for injury prevention. Proper alignment and optimal nervous system functioning is also instrumental in pushing your body to the next level and reaching new goals. Whether you are training for your next Ironman or CrossFit competition or maintaining your weekend jog, regular chiropractic care will help you stay injury-free and reach new levels.
For someone who suffers from headaches, it can be completely debilitating to your life and it can affect your entire family. A person can have severe spinal subluxations in their neck causing their headaches and never know it. We have had patients who have suffered for over 30 years with migraine headaches be cured through corrective chiropractic care.
Studies have shown that chiropractic care is more effective than any over-the-counter NSAIDS at helping low back pain. Don’t ignore the warning signs of lower back pain, schedule yourself today for an evaluation to see if chiropractic can help you.
This technique involves using a small, but quick amount of pressure through the subluxated vertebrae in order to restore proper neurological input, movement, and function. This can often lead to hearing a sound or a “pop” during the adjustment, also known as a cavitation. This sound is not indicative of an adjustment but merely the by-product of one but is a perfectly safe and natural way to re-establish proper alignment.
A gentle Sustained Contact adjustment is made with just a fingertip using light pressure to correct the subluxated or misaligned segment of the spine to restore proper neurologic function and movement in the area. A sustained contact adjustment uses no more pressure than you would use to check the ripeness of a tomato while grocery shopping. This technique is extremely effective for babies and infants.
Thompson technique is a low force chiropractic technique that uses a drop table to assist in the adjustments. This “drop” table is designed to allow gravity to assist and work in combination with a manually applied pressure to restore proper joint movement and function. The table often makes a loud sound but rest assured, the technique is very gentle and unlike a diversified adjustment, cavitations are not often heard.
This technique is focused on the relationship between the base of the spine (sacrum) and the base of the skull (occiput) and the reciprocal movement between the two areas as they aid in the vital flow of Cerebral-Spinal-Fluid (CSF) as it surrounds the brain, spinal cord and nervous system. This CSF flow is optimal for health and acts as the circulatory system of the brain and central nervous system. Restoring proper flow of CSF helps restore the functional relationship between the head, spine and pelvis. This technique uses very gentle pressure applied to the appropriate areas or uses blocks or wedges positioned precisely under the pelvis to steadily realign the essential areas of the body, thus ensuring a very comfortable way to restore function to the patient’s body.
The Activator is a hand-held, spring loaded instrument that provides low force impulses to specific areas of the body to restore proper neurological function. This technique is extremely gentle and you will not hear any “popping” or “cracking” sounds, known as cavitations, but simply a small “click” of the device. Kids often refer to this tool as a “clicker” and enjoy its use on their little spines!
Often closely associated with SOT, cranial work is a very gentle technique designed to encourage proper flow of CSF fluid throughout the cranium, surrounding the brain and can influence dura and meningeal tension. The bones of the cranium are connected by joints called sutures where small movement takes place. Restrictions within the cranium can lead to things such as headaches, TMJ pain, feeding issues or breastfeeding challenges, or poor sinus drainage/congestion. We often also use cranial work in order to help infants and children with cranial distortions (“flat heads”) due to torticollis, birth trauma, etc and can work along with helmet therapy to restore balance and symmetry to those little noggins!
Dr. Rebecca received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2018 from Life University near Atlanta, GA. Prior to that, she completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology at The Pennsylvania State University in 2014. During college, when she thought she would go on to become a Physical Therapist, she discovered that Chiropractic was her calling instead. She found her love for chiropractic and the amazing things it could do in helping others and immediately switched paths. During her chiropractic studies she had the pleasure of attending a mission trip to El Salvador serving underprivileged communities and it was during this trip that the spark for pregnancy, pediatric and family care was born. She has had extensive training through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) and is certified in Webster Technique for expecting mothers.
Dr. Rebecca also has experience in multiple techniques to help those of all ages including a background in sports chiropractic and extremity adjusting. She has a basis in sports chiropractic and exercise physiology, and having always been an athlete and weight lifter, she has knowledge in ways to avoid injury, use proper form and technique and how mobility training plays a vital role in the body's ability to move and function properly as well. She was a certified exercise Physiologist by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) but transitioned her focus to pediatrics and pregnancy when she learned the pivotal role starting healthy habits early could play out long term.
The ICPA promotes a scientific approach to clinical practice, supporting membership involvement in research publication, establishing and overseeing a Practice-Based Research Network and correlating research findings to establish protocols of care. Visit the Membership purpose here!
